preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
cream together butter, shortening and both sugars in the mixer until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix just until combined.
stir in chocolate chips.
drop by large spoonfuls onto the parchment paper
bake for about 10 minutes or until the edges are nicely brown.
remove the cookies form the pan and place on a cooling rack.
