Holiday Oven-Roasted Turkey

    DIRECTIONS

  • Enjoy.
  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Pull out Giblets and put aside for gravy.
  • Rinse turkey inside and out and put the turkey into a roasting pan.
  • Pour melted butter over and into the turkey.
  • Season turkey inside and out or stuff turkey with prepared stuffing/dressing.
  • Cut oranges, onions, lemons, and limes into quarters and put into the roasting pan and/or the turkey cavity if not stuffed.
  • Add water to the bottom of the pan.
  • Cover the pan with a lid or make a tent out of aluminum foil (be careful to not touch the foil to the turkey. this will be removed about halfway through cooking.).
  • Put the pan with the turkey into the oven. (remember to remove the foil from the turkey at the halfway mark).
  • Unstuffed Turkey takes about 13 minutes per pound to cook An 8 lb turkey will cook take 3 hours to cook. A 20 lb turkey will take 4 1/2 hours to cook.
  • Stuffed Turkey takes about 15 minutes per pound to cook. The same 8 lb turkey will take 3 1/2 hours to cook. A 20 lb stuffed turkey will take 4 3/4 hours to cook.
  • Remove from oven and remove the stuffing/dressing.
  • Let the turkey rest 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Carve and serve.
