Soooooo, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but … eggs are kinda hard to come by right now.
This COVID-19—induced shortage is inconvenient for a number of reasons, but it truly couldn’t have happened at a worse time: right before Easter.
Cooking dinner shouldn't be complicated
Sure, lamenting the loss of dyed and decorated Easter eggs as the world faces a pandemic seems laughable—but, for many children, it’s just one more beloved activity that’s been inexplicably taken away in just a few short weeks.
If you can’t find eggs at the grocery store, or if you do have eggs but want to conserve them for more practical purposes, we have the solution for you: Instead of dyeing real eggs, decorate Reese’s eggs instead.
All you’ll need is some peanut butter-chocolate “eggs,” icing or frosting, sprinkles, and an open mind.
You can keep your eggs simple or you can get as creative as you want.
Here’s what I used to make mine:
- Package of 2 Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs
- Package of 2 Reese’s White Crème Eggs
- Decorating icing
- Sprinkles
The beauty of this project is that, unlike traditional Easter eggs, these delicious treats double as dessert.
Using store-bought candy makes these eggs incredibly easy, but it’s worth mentioning you could totally adapt our No Bake Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Balls recipe for this activity.
