If you’re a regular MyRecipes reader or a Starbucks freak, you may recall the recent launch of the limited-edition Tie-Dye Frappuccino, a drink that looks like an acid trip and tastes like some kind of weird banana candy.
This may come as a surprise, but it sounds like a number of Starbucks baristas are pretty ready for the limited time offer to run its course. The problem here is that making the drink is a convoluted process requiring the mixing of multiple colorful powders to make a drink that honestly doesn’t sound all that appealing—and certainly doesn’t count as coffee.
Though it was just released Wednesday, July 10th, a scan of social media suggests that baristas are already pretty over it.
And who can really blame them? The thing looks ridiculous, and adds extra steps to making an already ornate and ridiculous beverage just so wannabe influencers can have some easy Instagram content.
These complaints aren’t limited to social media, either. An anonymous Starbucks employee told Business Insider that "It looks like it's going to be the Unicorn Frappuccino all over again, which the company said they wouldn't do again because of partner feedback," adding that “they don’t give a damn about us and it’s obvious.”
Don’t just take a barista’s word for it: plenty of customers don’t seem to be loving it, either.
