Louisiana native Sameer Jafri took to Facebook last week to share a photo and ask an innocent question: “Do y’all peel your nuggets?"
Do y'all peel your nuggets?
Because this internet is, well … the internet, people lost their minds. The controversial post quickly racked up almost 10,000 comments and more than 20,000 shares.
Jafri was called, among other things, a “monster” and an “uncultured swine” in the comments section.
Here’s what we have to say: Please. Calm. Down.
1. If it’s wrong to peel McNuggets, why does the skin come off so easily?
If Jafri was doing this with Chick-fil-A nuggets, we’d have more questions. Not that it would be bad, necessarily, but it would be more difficult. The breaded coat of a McNugget slides off the meat so perfectly and so uniformly, we can see how it could be tempting to peel it right off.
2. Chicken nuggets should be a source of joy, not hate.
No one wants to live in a world that supports nugget shaming; let it stop with you.
3. You probably do weird things with your fast food too.
We're lookin' at you, French fry/milkshake dippers.
4. People can eat their food however they damn well please.
Even if you think it’s weird. If Jafri wants to peel his nuggets, let him. If Jafri wants to perform surgery on his cheeseburger before eating it, that’s cool too. As long as it doesn't cause harm to anyone else, let this man live his drive-thru truth.
