Christmas is a time for indulgence, and the Royal Family certainly pulls out all the stops with their festive food offering. Like many families on Christmas Day, traditional, high-quality meat with all the trimmings makes a grand entrance into the dining room. But the royals also have their own unique Christmas food traditions they adhere to on the big day.
For many people, Christmas Day morning starts with a delicious breakfast and maybe a morning tipple.
And according to a former royal chef, the Royal Family loves all the classics when it comes to their Christmas breakfast too.
Darren McGrady told the BBC that Christmas Day starts for the royals with a full cooked breakfast complete with delights like bacon, eggs and sausages.
This is served before the Royal Family heads off for the meet-and-greet with well-wishers in Sandringham on their way to the annual church service.
When they return, a stunning roast turkey dinner awaits them complete with all the trimmings.
Enough turkeys are roasted on Christmas Day so the staff at Sandringham can enjoy a full Christmas dinner too if they happen to be working that day.
Just some of the items on the royal Christmas table include “homemade sage and onion stuffing, Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, sometimes parsnips and carrots… mashed potatoes and roast potatoes, homemade gravy”, according to the BBC.
The food served in the royal kitchens is of the highest quality, and this is likely to continue now King Charles is overseeing Christmas for his family.

Charles is famously eco-conscious and has championed organic fruit and veg grown locally for years, so plenty of fresh produce is likely to grace the Christmas table this year.
Dessert has got to be a traditional Christmas pudding complete with a glug of good old-fashioned brandy sauce.
And then later on in the day, there are two more meals for the Royal Family to enjoy.
Throughout her life, the late Queen was known to be incredibly fond of afternoon tea wherever she was in the world.
This tradition carried on over Christmas too when the Queen was in residence at Sandringham, and a chocolate Yule log was added to the ritual for the festivities.
There is also usually a Christmas cake and a delicious offering of chocolate pastries.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a few mince pies, and it also wouldn’t be afternoon tea without freshly-baked scones.
In case there wasn’t enough food on offer, the royals also reportedly enjoy a buffet dinner in the evening.
Delicious cheeses and cooked meats are hand-carved for royals to graze on and fill any stomach space they have left.
The next day, the royals awake to a hearty breakfast including classic spiced rice dish kedgeree, before the family spent time exploring the great outdoors Norfolk offers in spades.
Members of the working Royal Family will usually attend the traditional Sandringham Christmas, but there is also a Christmas luncheon for extended family members before Christmas Day.
The Queen tended to host the luncheon at Buckingham Palace during her reign, and royals like the Queen’s cousins would attend with other members of the Royal Family.
