There’s nothing I love more than the chemical-y smell of a kitchen deep-clean (just ask my roommates). I have to get over that, though. Despite the fact that the noxious fumes indicate that my kitchen is squeaky-clean, they aren’t necessarily the safest thing to breathe in on a regular basis. Not to mention that super-strong chemical agents aren’t so hot for the environment or safe for pets, either. So I’m officially in the market for a different kind of (cleaning) solution that will help me cut through all the crap.
Enter: the very fittingly named Krud Kutter, a non-toxic, environmentally friendly, EPA Safer Choice-certified, multi-surface spray cleaner. Use it to de-grease kitchen countertops, get grime off of cabinets and walls, and clean your stovetop after a day of deep-frying.
Buy: Krud Kutter, $4 for 32 ounces
While you may have never heard of this stuff, the brand has been since around 1974 (who knew?) and has managed to make an environmentally friendly product that actually works and has a bit of a cult-following. A 32-ounce bottle is just $4 on Amazon, and it comes highly reviewed from superfans who swear by the solution in their kitchens. Don’t believe me? Here’s what they had to say.

“Great product! No stinky odor. Cleaned my kitchen surfaces and was a great general purpose cleaner for use in all other areas of the house. I will definitely buy again.”
“This thing is the bees’ knees! It will remove ANYTHING that’s been crusted for a while and works wonders on grease, without toxic fumes or smells.”
“This product melted away the grease that I had been battling with home-concoctions for a week. I tried the vinegar and dove-soap mix, the hot water and Pine-Sol, everything to no avail. With this product, I sprayed and wiped. No effort, no scrubbing. If it didn’t come off it was because I had missed that area with the spray. After hitting it again it would come off, again with a single wipe.”
Have you tried this stuff? What’d you think?
