Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds’ wedding took place in a “small ceremony” on Saturday afternoon, a Downing Street spokesperson has said. A photo has been shared of the couple during the ceremony and the groom looked smart in a suit, especially as he has lost weight in recent weeks.
Mr Johnson has made it his goal this year to lose weight.
Posting on Twitter in March, the Prime Minister revealed that he had shed a few pounds, and he has continued to lose weight since.
In a video shared to the social media platform, Mr Johnson said: “I’ve been eating less carbs, avoiding chocolate, no more late-night cheese, all that kind of thing.
“I’ve been getting up early to go for runs.”
He added: “I actually have lost some weight.
“Quite a lot by my standards, and I feel much more energetic, I feel full of beans, and I thoroughly, thoroughly recommend it.
“And I know there are many people who are in the same sort of position as I am, and as I was, and who want to lose weight.”
Downing Street suggested at the time that Mr Johnson had lost around a stone, with Press Secretary Allegra Stratton saying: “I think it’s 14 pounds he has lost, which is a stone. I think he might have lost a bit more than that, I think he is being modest.”

Ms Stratton added: “He takes his diet very seriously.”
The Prime Minister made comments about his own weight loss bid at the same time as the Government rolled out a new campaign to help combat obesity in the UK.
In March, the Government introduced a £100million package aimed at helping address obesity.
The investment is expected to enable up to 700,000 adults to access support through the NHS and councils to help them lose weight.
Additionally, another £30million will be dedicated towards helping people maintain a healthy weight.
As a cheese lover, the fact that Mr Johnson has been reducing the amount of cheese he eats since March is significant.
He has previously called the vegan lifestyle “a crime against cheese lovers”.
Cutting out carbs, like Mr Johnson, or following a low-carb diet, is a good option for anyone who wants to lose weight.
Eating fewer carbs and more foods containing fats and proteins is beneficial for weight loss as it can reduce your appetite.
This type of diet is also known as the ketogenic diet.
Low carb and ketogenic diets can be helpful for people with diabetes and insulin resistance as studies have proved that cutting carbs lowers both blood sugar and insulin levels drastically, according to Healthline.
Other advantages of a low carb diet are that it may lower blood pressure and improve your cholesterol.
Foods to eat as part of a low carb or keto diet include meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruit, nuts, high-fat dairy, and healthy oils.
It is important to avoid sugar, wheat, and highly processed foods.
Additionally, eating plenty of fruit and vegetables is beneficial for weight loss, not only because they contain many nutrients, but also because they are high in fibre, which leads to satiety.
Satiety, or the sensation of feeling full, can contribute to weight loss as it makes people eat fewer calories.
