Diet expert shares ideal breakfast for ‘rapid weight loss’

Dr Michael Mosley is a diet expert who advocates for rapid weight loss as opposed to slow and steady. Dr Michael founded the New 5:2 Diet and The Very Fast 800.

Dr Michael’s weight loss approach relies on the principles of the Mediterranean diet and low-carb diet.

These principles can be applied to both the New 5:2 diet and The Very Fast 800, both explained on the official The Fast 800 website.

The 5:2 diet requires slimmers to consume just 800 calories two days per week, the rest of the days eating healthily but without calorie restriction.

The Very Fast 800 is a more challenging weight loss method and aims to “kick-start” the metabolism.

This “rapid weight loss” solution is done until a healthy weight is achieved or up to 12 weeks.

Slimmers must eat just 800 calories a day, seven days a week, following a moderately low-carb, Mediterranean diet.

What is particularly amazing about this rapid method is that it is shown to achieve a high rate of type 2 diabetes remission.

No matter which of the diets are chosen, Dr Michael’s top recommended foods are the same.

Many say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the diet experts believes that each day should be started the same way – with eggs.

The official website stated: “Boiled, poached, scrambled or as an omelette – they’ll keep you feeling fuller for longer compared to cereal or toast.”

“Delicious with greens and parmesan or smoked salmon and a sprinkle of chilli.”

Slimmers can learn how to make the diet guru’s ultimate “go-to” weight loss breakfast – a nutritious and filling mushroom omelette.

Speaking about the tasty morning meal, Dr Michael said: “It only has about 70-80 calories, and it contains lots of high quality protein plus other things like Vitamin D and selenium.”

For those who aren’t a huge fan of eggs – or who simply want to mix it up – full fat yoghurt is another great option.

“Choose a plain Greek-style, full-fat yoghurt and add berries, like blackberries, strawberries or blueberries for flavour. Or, a sprinkling of nuts and a dash of cinnamon.”

There are some breakfast foods that should be avoided however, according to the expert.

Most breakfast cereals are “laden with sugar”. Opt for rolled oats instead as these are more fibrous.

Breakfast pastries should also be avoided as Dr Michael is all about cutting down on sugar.

For those who enjoy a fruit salad in the morning, apples, pears and berries are better than “sweet” fruits such as mango, pineapple and melon.
