James Martin has previously spoken about his weight loss journey, detailing the easy changes he made to his routine to shed the pounds. What were these changes?

James Martin appeared on his weekly cooking programme on ITV this morning at 9:30am.

Viewers will be reminded of the chef’s good shape, even though he is not afraid to cook with fatty ingredients, such as butter.

However, to lose weight a few years ago, James cut butter from his diet and started to eat healthier meals.

Now, he continues to eat a healthy diet and ensures to incorporate exercise to his daily routine.

But James first began to lose weight without even trying.

Back in 2005, the chef competed on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The rigorous training programme meant he lost a stone in just a week, James revealed at the time.

At the end of his time on the show, the chef had reportedly lost a whopping five stone.

It was around this time that started eating more healthily too, reducing his intake of unhealthy fats.

Speaking to Mail Online, he said: “It’s hard work because I’m a big bloke.

“So I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly.”

These days, James’ exercise involves taking his dog out for a walk, according to his Instagram, where he often posts images of his pets.

In 2018, James lost weight again after noticing some fat regain.

He was unimpressed by his appearance when he watched himself on television, but he also started to receive some cruel comments from trolls online.

He told the Sun: “I looked on social media and every comment was about me being fat.

“So, I lost a stone and a half.”

When speaking to Mail Online, he added: “I just think it’s a lifestyle thing and also looking at yourself on TV.

“Before you used to watch TV on a small one and now they’re massive.”

As well as reportedly cutting down on some ingredients, James also incorporated a lot of fruit and vegetables into his diet.

One of the best diets for slimmers, which is not too different to the diet James followed, is the Mediterranean diet.

This involves eating vegetables, legumes, lentils, nuts, and fatty fish.
