Belly fat is the most common place people wanting to slim down want to target first but unfortunately, spot-reducing isn’t possible. However, Joe Wicks revealed what people can do to get rid of their growing midriff quickly and “effectively”.

The nation’s favourite personal trainer is renowned for his fitness advice and helped keep the UK healthy during the various lockdowns.

Ahead of his latest tour, he spoke to to reveal some of his highly-anticipated exercise advice.

He explained that there’s one workout technique in particular that can burn body fat very quickly and it doesn’t take long, either.

“I’ve always relied on HIIT (high-intensity interval training) training in a time situation,” he said.

“If you haven’t got an hour to go to the gym or do a long run then HIIT training is very good.

“You’re doing a 25-minute workout and you can do so much work in such as short space of time.”

A HIIT workout session is a combination of short, very high-intensity bursts of exercise followed by equal or longer periods of rest.

People should be working at around 80 to 90 percent of their maximum heart rate for that period of time.

One of the many reasons HIIT workouts are so popular is because they’re extremely effective for weight loss, and people can do it all from home.

It’s Joe’s favourite go-to regime and his daily workout only takes 25 to 30 minutes.

He explained: “Quick bursts followed by a short rest, 25 minutes a day is enough really and it’ll make a really big difference to your body!”

“If I’m at the gym, I’ll be on my phone or I’ll have a long rest in between and I get nowhere near as much work done.

“So I tend to do it with a timer – 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds of rest and repeat for 25 to 30 minutes.

“That’s the best training because it’s so intense you feel really good by the end of it and it’s quite good for your mental health, too.”

People can incorporate any exercise into their daily HIIT workout, such as:


High Knees

Lunge Jumps

Jumping Jacks

Mountain Climbers

Rope Jumping


Side Jackknife.

HIIT can also be done with weights, and experts say that combining the two is the “most effective” way to maximise fat burning and improve heart health.
