Princess Diana’s niece, Lady Kitty Spencer, revealed in a recent interview that she managed to lose a significant amount of weight in her mid-20s after ditching the “unhealthy diet”, but before that, she was often abused on social media with some people telling her she had “chunky thighs”.
Kitty Spencer is now a model and has an incredible figure but before her weight loss transformation, people used to send her very cruel messages on social media criticising her weight.
The socialite revealed that some Instagram users asked her to “lay off the cake” and others commented on her bikini pictures saying she was “too fat”.
“Lay off the cake, darling. You’re too fat,” said a social media user to which Kitty replied: “I’m sorry that you feel the need to post nasty comments under photographs of people you don’t know. I’ve yet to see unkind behaviour do any good in the world.”
In 2018, Princess Diana’s niece decided to lose weight and she did so by ditching the “unhealthy diet” she was following at the time.
Lady Kitty claimed that her first modelling job, as well as her cousin’s royal wedding in 2018, were the two main factors that motivated her to change her lifestyle habits and slim down.
Her first job as a model was with Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, and months later she attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding looking stunning in a green midi dress.
After the royal event, Kitty saw her Instagram account grow with over 37,000 new followers who had noticed her transformation.
The socialite recalled: “I woke up the next day and looked at my phone and thought, ‘Whoops, did I take someone else’s by mistake?’ It was very weird, and a little bit overwhelming,” she told Town and Country.

Speaking about her first modelling job before the wedding she said: “It was terrifying! I was 26 and working full-time for a charity, and I loved it, but it’s very different from that world of style.
“I went home and spoke to my family, and my mum said, ‘Well, why don’t you?’.
“I thought, ‘I’m going to do it for my older self, so I can look back and say I did it’. It could be the start of a confidence-building exercise.
“I remember trying to be really healthy, going to the gym and doing that sort of stuff, and when I tried on the dress for a fitting, Domenico [Dolce] was like, ‘Have you lost weight?’
“I proudly answered, ‘Yes!’ and he said, ‘OK, now the measurements are different…’ There was no emphasis on size – that’s not what it’s about at all.”
Kitty explained that she managed to slim down by following a balanced and varied diet, making healthy choices and following a consistent fitness routine.
A diet which resembles Kitty’s meal plan is the Mediterranean diet, which is “rich in flavorful ingredients like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and heart-healthy fats”, Healthline explained.
Luckily for slimmers, are “no strict rules for the diet”, and “it typically encourages fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and heart-healthy fats”.
Processed foods, added sugar and refined grains “should be restricted” which means it is all about healthy choices and varied meals, very similar to the diet plan Lady Kitty may have followed to lose weight.
According to Healthline, these are the foods that should be consumed regularly, in moderation and rarely:
Eat: vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, potatoes, whole grains, herbs, spices, fish, seafood and extra virgin olive oil
Eat in moderation: poultry, eggs, cheese and yoghurt
Eat rarely: red meat, sugar-sweetened beverages, added sugars, processed meat, refined grains, refined oils and other highly processed foods
