Bulgarian patatnik (potato dish)

I’ve always been interested in Bulgaria as a whole so, I started looking into their recipes.
This is an easy potato-egg dish that everyone will love!


  1. 5 potatoes
  2. 2 onions
  3. 3 eggs
  4. to taste Dried mint
  5. To taste salt
  6. To taste black pepper
  7. 1 table spoon vegetable oil
  8. Butter
  9. 2 table spoons flour


  1. Preheat oven to 450 F or (230C). Into a bowl, Grate onions and potatoes. Drain ALMOST all of their water out.

  2. Add salt, pepper, dried mint, vegetable oil and eggs. Mix well with hands.

  3. Use whatever pan you like round or square, grease it with butter and add the potato mixture to it and flatten it out. Add two table spoons of flour(distribute it evenly) on top and two slices of butter. Bake for 45 minutes.
