Churches chicken biscuits

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups flour
  2. 4 tsp baking powder
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1 Tbsp sugar
  5. 1 tsp cream of tartar
  6. 1/2 cup cold butter, diced
  7. 2/3 cup milk
  8. for the honey butter
  9. 4 Tbsp butter
  10. 1/3 cup honey

Steps

  1. Drop biscuits

  2. Preheat 450° line baking sheet with parchment paper

  3. In a medium bowl whisk together 2 cups flour, 4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 Tbsp sugar, & 1 tsp cream of tartar. Cut in 1/2 cup cold butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal. Add the 2/3 cup milk. Mix well.

  4. Knead dough 15 times

  5. Divide dough into 1/4 cup size portions. Roll into balls. Place on sheet pans. Pat into 1/2” thickness.

  6. In a medium saucepan combine ingredients for honey butter. (4 Tbsp butter & 1/3 cup honey). Bring to a boil. Remove from heat.

  7. Brush biscuits with a thin layer.

  8. Place in oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and brush again immediately with more honey butter.

  9. Serve warm
