My Zuppa Toscana

Good savory soup


  1. 1 pound ground sausage
  2. 6-10 potatoes diced and not peeled
  3. 4 cups kale
  4. 1 pounds bacon
  5. Onion diced
  6. 2 Tbls minced garlic
  7. 32 oz chicken stock
  8. 2 1/2 cups water
  9. 2 cups half and half or heavy cream


  1. Cook bacon and sausage separately set aside. Save some bacon grease for later.

  2. Add stock, water, potatoes in large pot cook just until potatoes are slightly soft.

  3. Saute onions in bacon grease add garlic when onions are almost done.

  4. Add bacon, sausage, onion, garlic and half and half to soup pot.

  5. Add kale just before serving.
