Tadka in detail

Ingredients

  1. 1 big onion finely chopped
  2. 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  3. 1 green chilli chopped
  4. 3-4 cloves garlic chopped
  5. 1 inches ginger chopped
  6. 1 tsp curry leaves
  7. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  9. 1 tbsp red chilli powder or less
  10. 1 tsp black pepper
  11. 1 tsp coriander powder
  12. 1 tsp cumin powder
  13. 1 tsp garam masala
  14. 1 tsp chaat masala
  15. Pinch hing or ASAFETIDA
  16. Some basil leaves optional for aroma

Steps

  1. First I want to tell everyone that proper way to boil any lentil is first rinse it and soak atleast 1 hour and put salt and turmeric according to lentil.like 1 cup lentil take 1 tbsp salt and turmeric

  2. That’s why I didn’t mention salt and turmeric here in the list

  3. First add in ghee or oil mustard seeds+ginger+garlic+cumin seeds

  4. Roast until it looks golden then add green chilli and onion.again roast them until it looks brown

  5. Now add all the spices together and cook at medium flame for one minute

  6. Now add tomatoes and 2 to 4 tablespoons water and cook until tomatoes get softened and mixed well

  7. Add it to boiled lentil and enjoy.stay safe stay healthy
