Queen Camilla may have dined at some of the finest establishments in the world, but she also knows her way around a kitchen.
Back in 2013 the now Queen visited Godolphin Junior School in Slough where she launched British Food Fortnight’s Bring Home the Harvest project.
Annika Matharu, eight, and Imaan Ganimusa, 11, asked the royal if she grows her own food and what her favourite vegetable is.
The savvy gardener replied: “Yes I do, we grow all our own vegetables. I think my favourites are broadbeans.
“But I’ll tell you what I really like, I like peas straight from the garden.”

Camilla provided a hack for vegetable lovers: “If you take them straight from their pods they’re delicious, really sweet.”
She revealed that she gets her grandchildren involved too. Camilla has five biological grandchildren: Lola Parker Bowles, Freddy Parker Bowles, Eliza Lopes and Louis and Gus Lopes.
She said: “I take all my grandchildren into the garden and they spend hours and hours eating peas.”

The royal granny added: “They eat them and eat them until they’re almost sick.”
In conversation with You Magazine in 2022, Camilla revealed that gardening is a big part of her life.
She said: “I do still cook for myself when at home. Simple things like fish en papillote with butter and herbs.
“And vegetables from the garden: kale, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots, courgettes, and lots of peas and beans because they freeze so well. I love the vegetable garden, and summer in particular.”
She added that she has a particular favourite: “I’m very proud of my white peaches. My husband is an excellent gardener, and we’re quite competitive about our fruit and vegetables.”
In conversation with Mary Berry in 2019, Kate, Princess of Wales shared that her little ones are very good at eating their veggies. Beetroot is a “massive favourite” of Prince Louis’, whilst Princess Charlotte “obviously” loves Charlotte potatoes.
